Lara Kohn Thompson is a certified Yoga teacher (ERYT-500/PRYT), licensed massage therapist, perinatal trainer, educator, and mentor.
Born in India, raised in France, and living in Brooklyn, Lara spent her early life as a professional dancer, traveling, performing, and experiencing how the body moves and feels when integrated as well as when injured, thus forming the foundation of her knowledge as a deeply intuitive teacher and bodyworker.
In her teaching as in her bodywork therapies, Lara uses breath-centered practices and precise alignment. Her lifelong experience of movement practices as well as her extensive education have taught her to see the subtle movement patterns and ways bodies have of moving and breathing and the effects these patterns have on a person’s well-being.
For the last 20 years, Lara has specialized in perinatal care and integrated pelvic health. She co-created the perinatal program at Bend and Bloom Yoga and is on the faculty of the Integral Yoga institute pre and postnatal Yoga teacher training programs, as well as Kula Yoga Project’s 200-hour certification program. She is a scholar and contributor for the Wanderlust teacher training program, the Commune Empower Birth series, and a guest teacher for Yoga training programs in the US, France, and Switzerland.
